Traumatic injuries can result in the need for dental treatment. Trauma may include fractured or cracked teeth, a displaced tooth, or a tooth that has been knocked out (avulsed). Each occurrence needs specific treatment and an endodontist will be an important part of your care team.

Treatments can vary based on the type of injury, whether the tooth is a deciduous (baby) or permanent tooth, and how long it’s been since the injury occurred. Treatment may include a splint, medication, a root canal or other procedures. Monitoring your teeth can be just as crucial over time to be sure healing occurs and nerve health continues.
