Endodontic Surgery or Apicoectomy

Endodontic Surgery or Apicoectomy

Sometimes even the best root canal needs some additional help. Teeth and their nerve canals are complex. In some cases, persistent infection or inaccessible areas near the apex or tip of the root require an apical surgery, also referred to as an apicoectomy. Dr. Hidi will consult with you prior to any surgery so that you’ll know just what to expect.

After a short procedure that cleans the root end, sutures are placed and post-operative instructions are given regarding ice, post-op medications, and any do’s and don’ts to help you have the easiest healing. Plan to take it easy for the remainder of the day and to return for a post-operative appointment in about 3-5 days to see how well you’re healing.
