Root canals occur for different reasons, including trauma, cracked teeth, deep decay or infection. The goal of the procedure is to remove the nerve, or pulp tissue, from within the tooth to alleviate whatever symptoms it’s creating. Depending upon your specific case, some treatments require more than one appointment, but if that is the recommendation, it’s only done to create the best opportunity for success and pain-free healing.
Once your root canal is completed with sealed root canal filling material called gutta percha, you are ready for the permanent restoration which is usually a filling or crown. Feel free to watch this video for more information.
